Booking Hotel in New York City

There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in NYC if you're looking for bona fide Italian, but they come in only two styles: romantic cheesy and traditional cheesy. Looking for authentic dishes minus the plastic grapes and red-checked tablecloths? Check out SD26, a sleek and modern lounge/restaurant where the only cheese to be found is on display at the formaggio station. Fittingly located in the Flatiron district, SD26—short for San Domenico on 26th—manages to provide excellent service and a family-run feel (owner Tony May greets patrons at their tables) in an upscale space appropriate for the after-hours schmoozing required in the 'hood. Start in the front lounge, where cocktails ($13) can be hit or miss but the liquor selection is unbeatable. If you make it past the bar (and given the wine selection, its fine if you don’t), watch as your meal is prepared in an expansive open kitchen and try the electronic "table sommelier" from Incentient to choose a wine pairing. When SD26 claims that they are more than just a restaurant, they’re an “experience,” take it to heart and take your time—of course you’ll leave with your wallet wiped out for the night.
